Abstract

|
Infestation of clonorchis sinensis has been quite prevalent in this country. Common duct obstruction due to the above parasite has also been sporadically reported in the past. This is to report 2 cases of common bile duct obstruction due to the parasites, which were handled by surgical manner. Both of the cases herein reported, were diagnosed preoperatively as cholecystitis with lithiasis.
The first case was 56 year old female, apparently having no stone, but revealing dilated gall bladder and common duct during surgery, and neumerous parasites were noted upon drainage of common bile duct, the second case being 55 years old male having a large calculus, 2¡¿2cm, impacted in the neck of the gall bladder, where common duct also dilated, revealing myriad of parasites in the common duct upon drainage.
So far, not many specific therapies for this disease were available, and surgical drainage was thought to be only measure to relieve common bile duct obstrucion.
